    Hi all,

I usually edit with Premiere Pro but I’m doing a job for someone on Final Cut 7 at the moment.

When adding titles to the uppermost empty track in the timeline (by dragging them from the Viewer window), it sometimes creates a cut in the video footage in lower tracks rather than overlaying the titles on top.

    Is there something I’m missing?

    Thanks in advance.

Ah, just worked it out. If there’s an outline where the title is about to be dropped, it’ll split the video footage and if there’s a solid dark grey block, it’ll be overlayed.

    Hope that’s it!

You need to watch for a ‘down’ arrow when dropping onto the track, not an arrow pointing to the right.
