Ultimately FCPX’s paradigm is unique to FCPX. There are plenty of similar individual features in other NLEs, but just not the whole package.

For example, if you want to swap shot order from 1,2,3 to 2,1,3 in Media Composer, simply use the Smart Tool – Insert function. However, to do that same swap, plus do it with additional clips from V2 and above, takes several additional commands. Nothing as easy as FCPX’s connected clips. Think of it this way – most NLEs operate the way FCPX does in the Position Mode.

As Alex said, use the tool you are most comfortable with. But if you expect other NLEs to adopt FCPX’s style, don’t hold your breath. The majority of existing editors that make a living at this, aren’t particularly interested in seeing Premiere Pro or Media Composer become just like FCPX. It’s still very much a “love it or hate it” kind of thing.
