Over Write and Insert Short Cuts not working
This is a silly problem but it is kind of annoying and does slow me down. I have to use the mouse to click overwrite and insert cause whenever I hit the F11 and F12 button I just lower or raise the volume. All my dashes are blank in the system preferences so I can’t figure out why FCP doesn’t take command over the operating system and allow me to hit F11 and F12 to perform edits. Any suggestions?

Go into your computers System Preferences and select Keyboard. Check where it says Use all F1, F2, etc.as standard function keys.
