  • outputting from FCP to DVD recorder

Posted by Arthur Luhn on August 5, 2007 at 3:26 pm

I was reading on the P2 post and someone mentioned FCP output to DVD recorder as an option, I just wanted to check in this forum and see if that was possible/true.

If so, how does the FCP to DVD recorder hookup works? Would it possible to output HD or would I have to downsize to SD first?

    Thanks

There’s no direct magic to export out of FCP to a DVD recorder. You CAN hook up a DVD recorder much in the same way that you would hook up a VHS player. Either with a card or converter, through a deck, etc. We have an DVD recorder hook up to everyone of our edit suites.

The only way you’re going to get HD out of FCP is if you have an HD output, then you’d need to have a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD recorder that could take that HD output.

Of course you can always go through Compressor and get any file you want. DVD, HD, etc.

    Good Luck,
