Outputing to TV
Hello,
My DV footage when I play from the Viewer and see it on the O/p monitor it doesn’t maintain the aspect ratio.(On TV monitor the image stretches vertically and and horizontally it sqeezes) But when the same is played from the sequences it play properly.I ve seen when I take 8bit footage with 25% compression it also does the same.
I checked with my viewer, Square pixel is checked. Anything is missing

Is this footage 16×9 perhaps? If so, you need a monitor that can adjust for that…

A standard TV won’t have the option to squeeze the footage on the fly. A widescreen TV will though. This is why editors use pro video monitors and not TV sets. A proper pro monitor will squeeze your footage as it plays. Sounds like you need to break out some cash and get yourself some proper gear.
