Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Output to Beta

    Hi,

Any suggestions on outputting to a Beta SP deck. Am thinking of doing a pass through my DV deck but would need some sort of adapter for the audio conectors. Beta usually has XLR, right? What would be the correct way to out put and what would be an inexpensive work around.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

    All the best,
    Mic

This will add 5:1 DV compression to your video as it passes through.

AJA makes the Io series and the AJA Io LA is analog only and would be a great way to handle this. Outputs Component, S-Video and Composite along with XLR Audio. We use both the Io LA and our Kona boards to output to beta here.

That’s assuming the project is not ALREADY DV.

If it is already a DV timeline, there’s no reason not to output via a DV device.

Use the S-Video (Y/C) connector for video (if the Beta Deck has one)
and send the audio from the DV device through a line-level mixer to boost the un-balanced signal and match it to the XLR inputs on the deck.

You’ll need to get a Keyspan USB to Serial adapter to get deck control, but there is to reason why that won’t work.

I used the keyspan and an ADVC-110 to output to beta all the time, before I got my Kona card. Works like a charm.
