Output quality size questions…
I am doing a final output of clips, and notice the huge size differences in the files, and wonder which format to choose. The footage is 720p/30, and I get the following file sizes on export.
Exporting, not from sequence, but from Browser, Photo-JPEG, 100%: 63MB
Exporting same clip from sequence, Photo-JPEG, 100%: 53MB
Exporting same clip from sequence and browser, DVCPro HD(720/60): 12.3MBThe Photo-JPEG looks much richer, is that the best quality file? I understand this is the most versatile file?
Why the different size exporting from browser or sequence?
For workflow it might be faster to create subclips and export directly but not if they are that much larger?Thanks for the advice….

DVCRPHD is a very efficient codec and it is a 4:2;2 codec as is the PHOTO jpeg. Most apple machines have the DVCPROHD codec installed.
The Photo-JPEG looks much richer, is that the best quality file?
How so?
I understand this is the most versatile file?
For what application?
Why the different size exporting from browser or sequence?

Is there a difference in Frame Rate between these two files?
No…there is no difference same file, except that one is saved Photo -Jpeg from browser, one is saved Photo – JPEG from Sequence, both 29.97. The entire file was brought into the sequence, same duration.The DVCPro HD was 59.94…but it ended up being much smaller.
The Photo-JPEG files look richer, better colour on my monitor, less flat, bit more contrast…mostly it was the depth of the colour that I liked.
Most versatile: I understood the DVCPro HD files cannot be used in PremierPro??
The Photo-JPEG seems the standard used by many stock houses.Pierre
