Output from AE to Vegas, best format
Posted by Kevin Labonty on October 28, 2006 at 11:36 pmWhat is the best format (.mov, .avi, etc…) and standard codec to output from After Effects to Vegas? Is there a format I should be using to keep good quality video and reduce render time?

October 30, 2006 at 11:27 pmGenerally, one of the best options for pro-quality and smaller file size is Quicktime Animation Compression. I output everything that way. Quicktime with animation compression is a lossless compression format.
Speed wise – as far as Renders go, I don’t know if there’s a difference. However, A video file (as opposed to an image sequence) will work faster in most NLE’s.

October 30, 2006 at 11:29 pmbTW – by smaller, I mean smaller than an uncompressed AVI. those things are 1.75 GB per minute. depending on what you’ve got in your video, you could save a lotr of space with animation compression. But not compared to a quicktime with sorenson compression – which is a lossy compression format, and which (like all compressed video files) takes a lot longer to render because it is rendering and compressing at the same time.
