  • Outlining a shape layer stroke?

Posted by Andy Stokes on November 3, 2015 at 1:23 pm

    Hi,

Ok so I have a shape layer with a path and a thick stroke applied to it which I’m animating using trim paths.

Trying to figure out if possible to take the output of this thick stroke and outline the edges of that with a thin stoke. Kind of like you would do inside Illustrator. I tried group/Merge paths etc, no joy.

Also, how to make the shape layer repeater work with Z position values?

    Any ideas? Many thanks.

    Cheers,
    Andy

You can add another stroke to the Contents of the shape, slightly thicker than the one you already have there. If you don’t have a fill, the new stroke will show on both sides or the original stroke.

Can’t do Z axis with Repeater, have to duplicate the layer multiple times and parent or use expressions to make it follow the original. Or use Trapcode Echospace.
