  • Outline of people using a particle effect – example on YouTube

    Hi,

I really like some of the stuff used on the opening sequence of the TV show “Britain’s Got Talent” in particular the “artists” which appear to have a particle outline and the burning firework in the foreground which is out of focus at some points.

You can see it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqV3LlrYT_k

Would the people/artists have been completely animated in this example or would this have started with actual shot footage?

Any comments or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

they most likely started with shot footage, then traced every couple of frames to create the outlines. those outlines were then further effected to get the spark-like edges.

It’s difficult to know whether this is rotoscoped footage or original animation. Though it looks as though it may be roto work.

The outlines on the figures don’t appear to be particles to me.
