    hello,
I have edited a short film shot on an EX3, was enquiring the best work flow to go from FCP (studio 2) to DVD. the DVD has to be of a high quality cause it will be played on a large screen. I’ve tried a few ways on compressor but it comes out very murky.
does anyone know a way to get a 6 minute film shot in HD on to a -R dvd?

your help would be greatly appreciated!

    cheers

    Hi Daniel,
Compressor is able to make a very good job as long as you set the “Frame Control ON”.
Normally I downsize to SD in FC. Then I send to Compressor. If you send your clip already as SD to Compressor, only the transcoding to MPG-2 have to be done.
To downscale in FC I make an SD sequence and I drop the HD sequence or HD movie on it.
Set “Render all YUV material in High Precission YUV” and “Rendering Motion Effects: Best”.
Then you only need to send to Compressor.
having a duration of only 6 minutes you can rise the data rate of your MPG-2 to get a better picture.
    Cheers,
    rafael

I do what Raphael does minus one step: I leave my HD sequence native with his method of the YUV settings, render and export a self-contained movie, then let Compressor do the downconvert with the frame controls set the way he does.

    Have a wonderful day.
