  • Out of memory when rendering timelines of stills

I’m currently working in a project that has huge amounts of Stills. Last night I left the open sequences of which there were about 11 open to render but when I came in this morning it said I was out of memory….anyone know why this might be happening, I restarted the computer before the render began and hence cleared out the RAM…

    They’re probably really big stills?

Render them one at a time. That’s the only way I’ve ever gotten around the problem.

I’m not sure that “Out of Memory” means exactly out of RAM.
I sow this warning in many different situations.
Rise the “Still Cache” and, as Aaron suggests, render in bunches.

This is all associated with your initial post on 3-25. There is no need to use the photos in your FCP timeline in their native resolution. FCP simply can not handle it.

You will not lose quality by reducing the size of the photos by 50% or more. If you are working in a DV timeline, your photos should be no more than 1440 x 960 pixels.

I am sure it is to late in the stage to resize your photos.

Having multiple sequences open at any given time will also eat up lots of RAM.
