I am running FCP 4.0 on an iMac G5 1.8Ghz. All of my drives have at least 40GB of free space. I was running 512k of RAM and just threw in another gig for a total of 1.5GB of RAM. I am working in a 45-minute long sequence and whenever I try to move part of the sequence forward or backward in the timeline, the dreaded color wheel appears, and sometimes if i let it go for a while i get the “Out of Memory” error message. I have tried trashing my preferences. Any other suggestions?

    Thanks.

I believe your problem is the long sequence. To make sure, start a small sequence in a new project and see if FCP is snappier. You could just buy a shiny new computer and load it to the gills with memory, but…

If I were in your situation, I would first back up your project in its current state. This will give you a reference back to this point if you need it later
