I want to develop plugins for Vegas but heard Vegas 8 was coming so I held off. Then I saw that VideoGuys was selling Vegas 7 with a free upgrade to Vegas 8.
COOL I said. So I order 3 weeks ago. I got my Vegas 7 loaded and
registered it. The next week I heard you could download the
Vegas 8 upgrade. I said FANTASTIC. So I went the the videoguys site to get the update. No update. Nothing.
OK… I called support. Oh they just havent updated the site yet. Check in a day or two. OK.. I did NOTHING on how to get the
upgrade. So I called again. We are not sure how Sony is handling this and will post it as soon as we know. Well now its 3 weeks and nothing. No upgrade no mention on the site. This is my first purchase from these guys and now I am concerned. Are these guys on the up and up? I know they have been around a bit. I think they were Electronic mail box at one time.

Any help to either sooth those frayed nerves or convince me I have to call and ask for a refund would be great.

VideoGuys is VERY trustworthy. However, I’d bet you don’t get the upgrade from them – you get it from SONY. Call Sony customer service and ask their requirements for the free upgrade. Provide them what they ask for and you should be set. It may be as simple as faxing the VideoGuys invoice (with date of purchase for proof of recent purchase) to Sony.

They are reliable. I bought another company package with similar terms. It took a while but the issuing company handles it. Usually Videoguys posts instructions for upgrade when they have them.

    Bob,

How long did it take for Sony to respond to your fax? I faxed my free upgrade almost a week ago and still have not heard from them. Did they respond by email?

    Thanks

Wow I got it the same day. I faxed this AM.
Email came and I have already downloaded installed
and am just looking it over. You might want to try again
    or give them a call.

I resent the fax, and got my upgrade the next day. I’m playing with it now.

    Thanks.

If you have not already resolved your issue, you may be able to find the update on the Sony site. I used Vegas up through 7 then switched to PPro. Vegas is a great package and I have heard that 8 is a major overhaul. Best of luck.

I did get it resolved. Thanks for asking.

Can I ask why Premiere? Are you on a Mac? Or
is there something you needed that Vegas didn’t
supply? Or was it just and interface thing? (Premiere works
for you in ways Vegas doesn’t)
Me I think Vegas with the 32 bit color and Blu-Ray is a
sweet ticket. There are a couple of things I would
change in the interface for work flow reasons but the way it can
work with almost any hardware is quite a turn on.
