    Dear Sir,
I just had a look to yours Company’s program (SWITCH) for people migrating from AVID and FCP.
    That’s great: a 50% price cut.

However when I look for the offer in your Europe Web Site, I can’t find it.
    I find this:

    Waooooooohhh!!
Seems that I will have to pay x 4.4 the price of USA customers for the same product.
That if I buy it in Europe; If I try to buy it in my area (South East Asia) it will be ever more expensive.

Would you be kind enough to explain me why?

For a video editor in the USA, paying US$850 means ONE WEEK wages.
    But you you know Sir?
I live in a country where a video editor makes some US$ 500 a month.
So to buy the same software means 9 MONTHS wages.
That means that your software costs 36 times more expensive.

In the USA you can get that investment back in one week.
Here your application will get obsolete before you get your investment back.

Sir, your Company’s rights and interests are very important, but don’t forget other’s rights, and don’t forget to read this:
    https://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/

I hope your Company reconsider this policy which, beside generating grievance and inequity, probably will fuel piracy.

    Best Regards,
    Rafael Amador

BTW, AVID is really try to help here:

    Rafael –

I would swear that I read somewhere in all of the FCPX postings (possibly on the FCP Forum) that this offer was world wide. You may want to go directly to the source (the Adobe website) to double check this, and if you don’t see it there, either call Adobe support/sales, or post on the forums.

    Hi Joseph,
Its seems that in some European countries like UK and France people can get a SWITCH code or so.
Not in many other countries (adobe.es, adobe.it, adobe.de,..)

Anyway, the more I dig, the less I understand.
Our poor Luxembourg neighbors at least are getting a better price than here:

    That’s great.
By my side I will have to call to a phone number in Bangkok to see if there is anything left for us.

[Ann Bens] “Its a world wide offer. Just fill in the word SWITCH when going to check out.

Is like a big surprise, no?

When I’ll be about to pay the 3.400 bucks, suddenly a tune will sound and a voice will tell me that I’m a lucky person?

In some web sites the offer is right in the main page, in others there is no mention at all.
What are they trying to do?

    Hi Tim my friend,
That’s the Adobe USA web site.
If I try to buy from there I’m redirected to the Spain store (where I am now):
    Euros 2.099 + VAT 18% = 2.476,82 Euros

Lucky here, in france they pay a 20% VAT = 2.510 Euros.
With the SWITCH they will end up paying 1.254 Euros = US$ 1.789
Price still lightly higher than the 845+taxes that you would be paying.

Any way, you find the SWITCH in “adobe.fr” almost at first sight, but can’t find no info in other websites.

Somebody (closed to Adobe) told me that in Europe, Adobe set the prices so to please and not compete with retailers.
I don’t know if is like that, but i’m buying the same product and the distribution expenses (internet) are the same.
    Cheers,
    rafael

PS: Apple do not charge the same prices all around the world but they try to keep a certain balance (often disturbed by the currencies changes), but at least you buy an UNIVERSAL product which you can use and update wherever you want.
I hope AVID is fallowing a less mercantilists policy.

I’m not an expert on international excise tax, but Adobe has said that anyone having trouble getting the 50% off should contact Adobe customer service.

I’m not sure what else would be factors in this, but that’s been the official word thus far…
