The outboard gear looks great but it doesn’t run FCPX so no good for me 🙂

Touché, Herb! I was referring to the hardware side of things, though. 🙂

Yep more so than great hardware ☺

I will be editing on a similar workstation for a week.

Amen Herb. Those three items are much more important than any technology.

And a computer that isn’t slow, that can’t keep up with you. That can handle the footage that the producer and director hand you…

I’m more of a ‘graphics guy’ who edits, so this machine would be a dream for me. I just wish it had more CPU cores – I think I could struggle through with it though. If one of you guys wins, could you keep the monitors et al and send the rest to me… since it would be an overpowered paper weight that doesn’t run FCPX and all. ☺

the ultimate editing machine did not edit Despacito. Isn’t Carlos Perez system the “ultimate edit machine” since he has the most watched music video in history ? This post for me is like seeing the “custom shop Gibson Guitars” for $25,000 each. Of which not one hit song was ever written on – ever. An ASUS motherboard with three NVidia 1080ti GPU’s and an Intel X550 10G port is more of “the ultimate edit machine” than any HP Z840.
