Today’s ultimate might last a few months at most. It’s an endless chase but cheap enough to keep playing catch up which is why any machine without replaceable parts is unwelcome to me.
I’m planning to upgrade in the next four to five months using six year old power supplies and a fifteen year old rack case with six year old 24″ Dell monitors, a ten year old keyboard and mouse. There is so much that doesn’t need the fast upgrade cycle. The iMac concept seems so wasteful to me.

True, but I’m still happily grinding away on 6 year old iMac. Pr, MC, R14, Fusion, FCP X etc etc. Paid for itself in the first 3 weeks I owned it.
