Roxio Toast 8 can create BluRay’s too. That’s what we’ve been using.

You are right that v8 allows you to create BD. v9 added a lot more enhancements such as you to create up to 20min of BD or HD DVD on DVD-R. HD Templates (for those that don’t have Encore).

    V9 is very impressive.

Steve- I went to the Roxio website but am still a bit confused. Does Toast 9 also provide Blu-ray authoring? I know Walter has been using Encore for authoring and then burned with Toast 8.

If it does it would save going the whole Adobe Premiere route just to author Blu-Ray.

[Jerry Alto] “If it does it would save going the whole Adobe Premiere route just to author Blu-Ray.”

If it does, it will be a very simplified version of BluRay authoring. If you really need to some nice work as far as menus and features, ala DVD Studio Pro, you would still want Encore at this time. Of course, next month that could change, but I’m not holding my breath.

You are 100% right Walter. Even though the new version of Toast 9 allows you to author BD with basic menus, it is a consumer product. When it comes to professional looking menus and custom DVD’s, DVDSP and Encore are the way to go. I have only burned a few videos with iDVD since it has been released. I been using DVDSP since version 1.
