OT real-life video display specs for iPad
I’m editing DVCPRO HD videos that will be seen on an iPad. There have been several instances where I’m forced to blow up a shot or still so that it is at more then 100% scale in the Sequence. With (maximum) iPad display in mind, I’m trying to find a compromise between pixelation from excessive blow-up vs bad design in making something too small c/o excess caution.
Without much input from the App developer people I’m trying to get a handle on the actual or effective video display specs on an iPad. We know that DVCPRO HD is 1280×1080 and the iPad 1024px by 768px at 132dpi.
It seems to me iPad’s double dots per inch (132 dpi), is sort of a red herring here. To date all our video viewing is done at 72dpi and that the iPad’s extra dpi is made for… and only meaningfully applied to fine print reading experience on e-books. That thinking leads me to believe I could blow-up an image by a third in a DVCPRO HD seq and it ok in a full screen iPad video display.
What do you all think?
Thanks in advance,
Paul
