    Hi guys.

    Please excuse the OT question.

I’m working on a feature project we aim to post in 2k from fade in to fade out and one of my intrepid investors has asked me what other movies have been posted at 2k. Darned if I can answer him.

If anyone has any first hand knowledge of a project that used 2k as distinct from 4k post – be it totally digital (animation), effects sequences or complete DI live action – I’d love to know.

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers

Many feature films are posted as 2K with only a handful currently working in 4K. Although there are many facilities providing this service, check out EFilm in Los Angeles at:
    https://www.efilm.com/filmography.php

and you will see a credit list of films that have undergone this process. Depending on where you are , there are most likely facilities or labs that provide this service. You can also thumb through any issue of American Cinematographer and they list which films were done via a DI process or not.

It is also a popular process for super 16mm – although doing an HD DI process is more cost efficient and depending on the type of work needing to be done, you may not see the difference. Hustle and Flow is an example of a 16mm DI workflow.

    Thanks Michael

I knew it was really common but the guy asked me for titles and I couldn’t lay my mind to a one. Located Downunder means I’m not up with this kinda insider goss.

I guess this shows me up as a beginner producer. Any producer worth his salt would have just lied:-)
