OT: Panasonic BT-LH2600W LCD Monitors
Posted by Mark Maness on August 11, 2006 at 1:54 pmI’m just curious… we’re looking at buying a couple of these monitors.
Does anybody have one of these monitors yet?
It seems like everywhere I look, it says accepting orders. This monitor was introduced at NAB and usually by now there would be product available for sale.

August 11, 2006 at 2:14 pmJust checked with my Panasonic reseller and they are shipping and being delivered right now. He said he finally saw one last week and it’s incredible. He said it’s built like a tank and the image quality, in his opinion, is as good as the $16,000 eCinema display that’s being touted as a critical color monitor.
I’m thinking we might add one to our second HD suite before the end of the year.

August 11, 2006 at 8:15 pmBeen using one for 3 weeks now and absolutely love it! Seemed a bit pricy at first, but with the built-in waveform combined with the outstanding picture quality, it’s a great deal. Mostly been working with SD footage, and the monitor does a great job of scaling and the image looks very nice. HD footage is amazing.
It’s also built extremely well – rock solid, sturdy and good design. The options are endless and the manual is gigantic.

I have heard some resellers try the same line when comparing the 17″ version to a Ecinema monitor.
It ain’t even close in that case. So until I see it first hand and do a critical test between the two I will consider any sales hype to be pure BS as usual.

August 13, 2006 at 7:31 pmWe’ve purchased the 17″ for the film I’m working on to have on set. So far, we’ve used it to work with the test footage & back plates that we’ve shot. We’re considering the 26″ for when we wrap shooting. I really think that both monitors are a really good value, especially since they already have HD-SDI inputs & a waveform (what, no vectorscope?). We made the decision to buy the 17″ after we saw it & the 26″ side by side at a SMPTE trade show & we were blown away by the image quality & the rich blacks.
