OT – Inventor of Blue Screen technology dies
Blue / Green screen has been around so long that we tend to forget it actually had to be invented by somebody. That somebody was Arthur Widmer who died yesterday at the ripe old age of 92. Imagine our post production lives without something that’s so basic today as blue / green screen work.

Thanks Walter, I will have to hoist a few cold brews to this ‘Key’ dude in my career. I have done alot of chroma key work. Chroma key makes for very affordable TV Spots. I can’t imagine video with out it.

Seems during World War II Kodak loaned him to Oak Ridge, Tennessee to work on the Manhattan Project.
I guess everyone in the film industry has worked on a bad movie but Mr. Widmer can claim a credit on the biggest bomb of all time.
