    Hi,

Has anyone ever come across the same problem as this… i’m not sure if it is the G5 or the software!

Encoding 40mins of footage to m2v via quicktime export used to only take less than a couple of hours to do, however now its taking about 6 hours to do…

G5 is making a lot of noise recently sounds like a hoover… and Final Cut Pro 4 .5 HD has been behaving oddly, slow responsiveness etc…

    Is my G5 dying? It’s a dual processor 2ghz!

    Any ideas?

Probably time to reinstall a startup disk from the ground up if you see really slow reponse times etc… I do this at least every 6 months or so, and am amazed how snappy things get afterwards.

    Hey Jerry,

Would you mind sharing with us your proceedure for doing this?
I’m thinking that it’s about time I did this myself, but I’m a bit paranoid about it. If I had step-by-step instructions from an old hand like yourself, it would give me the security that I need.
