OT: DCP transfer
I’m doing finishing work for a client who is entering her documentary in a myriad of festivals. The doc was shot on 29.97 interlaced DV, and I’m finishing it in 10-bit Uncompressed SD (there’s a fair amount of composited text and graphics that benefit from the 4:2:2 color space and lack of additional DV compression).
Anyway, the client would like to submit her doc to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for consideration for an Academy Award (yeah, I know). The Academy accepts submissions on 35mm or 70mm film and DCP (Digital Cinema Profile) packages. The client would like to know how much it would cost to have her doc formatted for DCP projection. Setting aside the fact that SD video blown up to 2K will look atrocious, can anyone recommend a post facility that could perform the upconversion and DCP formatting? The client would like an answer as to pricing and technical feasibility. I would likely be supplying a DigiBeta or Uncompressed 10-bit Quicktime master to the post facility. I’m guessing that the quote will be well into five figures, but the client is a little naive and needs a dose of reality.
Thanks in advance.
