OT: But Apple -related and just way too funny…
Hi All,
I have been so busy working on editing and finishing the new Creative Cow Magazine that I have hardly had time to breathe, let alone do much else. So, it’s been quite a while since I popped into the COWmedy Club Lounge and when I did so this morning, I found one of the funniest things…
Seems that somebody at eBay was not wanting to pay the image hosting fee, so they were ripping off their image embeds by linking to one of the Cow member’s images hosted on our member’s site.
So, to make a long story short… let’s just say that they edited the image (not the small one near the top of the auction that the person would see but the big one in the middle of the auction that once they uploaded their auction, they’d likely never look at again).

It seems to have scared off buyers too, considering the $0.15 winning bid.
Ho-ho-ho!
I love creative ways of letting people know the error of their ways, much better than threats, lawsuits, etc., and in my experience more effective too.
A few years ago I found that a competitor had just copied some of my teaching materials. Instead of raising a ruckus, I made sure that they got their hands on a phony piece that looked really really good (at first glance :O), so they photocopied and distributed it immediately to their customers. I then called some of their key customers and asked them to check some basic facts in the materials they had just received, and they were totally in stitches from laughing so hard… (I even had to do something similar in a court case eight years ago…).
But the modded eBay photo beats everything I’ve seen in this vein!

P.S. The whole thing reminds me of the movie Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988), with Steve Martin as a conned con-man, very very funny.
