    Hi,

This should allow running AE on an Intel Mac before Adobe releases a Mac Intel version. This will allow some users to transition to faster Intel Mac’s without waiting for Adobe.

It should also allow running apps that only run on Windows like Cinemacraft and Procoder.

It should also allow me (YES!) to print on DVD’s with my Inscripta Thermal Printer from my Mac.

    Best Wishes,

    Mitch

I wonder if it will allow a dual-boot state with both OS running at the same time, like Virtual PC. I like this option because I can directly copy files back and forth between OS’s on the same box.

Think of it….encode with ProCoder on the XP side and author in DVDSP while it encodes.

    Wow indeed.

Absolutely. The possibility of a dual boot Mac has been a very exciting possibility for a friend of mine who owns a web development company and being able to just work with any app on a single machine is a very exciting prospect for him.

I honestly believe that this is part of Apple’s motivation. It was a low-hanging fruit approach to appeasing the whole “Adobe problem”. The MBP will scream in AE for windows – just look at the latest Dell Laptop, the M90, and the tests being done on it. We already know it does so in Photoshop.

I can’t even imagine how this is going to affect workflow in terms of applications. I can now choose to run Maya on either OS depending on which it runs best on…with a single license.

Actually, I think it’s just another avenue for hardware sales. Most people completely forget that Apple is first and foremost a hardware company. Allow folks to run a competing OS on their machine opens up the door for more sales and potentially more retail outlets that would never stock Apple machines in the past.

Absolutely Walter. However, there were two major stumbling blocks for certain groups of potential buyer of their new H/W:

-Those who aren’t sure about OS X as they have never used and don’t want to get ‘stuck’.

-Those, like ME, that can’t live without access to the Adobe suite of tools on the H/W

This move addresses both in a very interesting way. So, yes, this will definitely help sell H/W – to new and old customers.
