OS X version incompatibility? Can’t open project on second system.
Is there incompatibility on editing the same project on same version of Media Composer, if Mac OS’s is different?
Our assistant editor ingested our media on a system on the east coast, and I edited on that system for a week. I then transported our project and drive back to my office on the west coast, and I can’t get the project to open. I either get a simple “Avid MC can not open the project” error, or the one attached.
CPU 1: Mac Pro running older OS X (Yosemite or Mavericks), MC version 8.4.0
CPU 2 (mine) : new Mac Pro running OS X Sierra 10.12.6, MC version 8.4.0I deactivated the license on CPU 1 before activating it on CPU 2. CPU 2 CAN open a project that wasn’t started on CPU 1.
Any advice much appreciated!

Yes, the OS is VERY important. MC 8.4.0 is not compatible with Sierra 10.12.6. The latest OS that version works with is 10.10.3.
Even the LATEST version of Avid, 8.9.1, isn’t rated to work with the latest OS version you are running. It tops out at 10.12.5

It might run, at least. But yeah, the OS version is very important in terms of software compatibility. ANY software, not just Avid

We’ve upgraded the software and will upgrade the OS to the most current on both machines.
