  • OS X 10.8.2 update on Ivy Bridge Mac systems Breaks ATTO drivers

Posted by Tim Jones on September 25, 2012 at 6:24 pm

    Hi Folks,

Some bad news for New Ivy Bridge-based Mac Book Pro users and Thunderbolt when using ATTO’s RAID, SAS, Fibre, or Ethernet adapters. The 10.8.2 update completely breaks compatibility with the currently available ATTO device drivers.

This does not apply to non-Ivy Bridge systems, so previous Mac Mini, iMac, or MBP / MBA systems are not affected.

If you are using ATTO and Thunderbolt for disk or tape with a new MBP (Ivy Bridge units, only) do NOT upgrade to OS X 10.8.2, Doing so will cause you to lose all connectivity to your disk, tape, or network.

While this is an Apple-caused issue, ATTO’s team is hard at work to resolve this and I’ll share more info as soon as I have it.

    Hi Joakim and all,

    Sorry for the lapse :-).

We’ve been pounding on the ATTO Beta drives with full success and we’ve reported this back to the ATTO engineers. I suspect that we’ll see an official update at the beginning of next week.

    Hi Folks,

Still no updates on the ATTO drivers’ release date. They’re still hedging about something even though we’ve provided solid testing results.

    I’ll keep you all informed.

Hopefully, most of you following this thread saw my other post. The ATTO drivers have been updated and posted on ATTO’s site for download. We’ve tested the released versions and they are working as expected on all platforms.
