  • OS Dialog crashes C4D – 9.5 !!

Posted by Andy Stokes on July 7, 2006 at 7:40 am

    Hi all,

I’m having issues with 9.5 (and above). Whenever I select any dialog that needs to interact with the OS (i.e Open, Save or browse for image in material editor, etc) it crashes out (Freezes with egg timer). I then have to kill the process in the Task manager. It’s made 9.5 unusable, let alone 9.6, which is what we ultimately want to update to.

We’re using a Dual Xeon 3.06, XP sp2, Matrox Parhelia 256mb (which has worked fine up to 9.012). I remember hearing somewhere that from 9.5 up Maxon have changed something to do with .net ? Could this be an issue ?

I have tried reinstalling the Matrox drivers, re-installing .Net framework (both 1.1 / 2.0), re-installing Matrox power desk, reinstalling C4D, installing updates from Maxon’s site…. Everything I can think of !!

Can anyone shed some light on this as it’s driving me crazy ? Right now we just have to stick with working in 9.102

    Cheers,
    Andy

    Hi,
.Net is not needed for CINEMA in any way.
I’ve only heard about problems like the once you encounter when a malfunctioning filemanagement tool was installed that modified the original file requester.
As for the Matrox graphics card, it’s not recommended, but it should pose no problem.
    Cheers
    Bj
