    Hi,

I’m the chief technician of a small theater in Switzerland and we recently had a complete breakdown of our Ki Pro (the original version). We primarily use it as a way to display small clips or stills during presentations.

The audio levels indicators have been flickering in a weird way for a while, even though there’s no audio on the clip playing. It hasn’t been able to play the clips at all for the past week, the timecode just goes to what I assume is the maximum clip length (~24 hours or something), while the audio levels are stuck in the red.

I’ve been searching for this issue on multiple websites and forums but found nothing. I know this is a relatively old piece of gear, but a good one nonetheless so I wanted to know if there’s a way to fix it before throwing it away.

    Thanks in advance.

    Alex

    Hello Alexander!

Reaching out to AJA , here is some information I uncovered:

The manufacturing department suspects a faulty component but they are not sure. Unfortunately AJA no longer offers a repair service since most of the components are no longer available.

Although this is a long shot, one suggestion is to clean (recondition) the interconnect cables to the various PCBs inside the KiPro with a contact cleaner.

It is recommend to use the following product: https://hosatech.com/products/accessories/cleaners-conditioners/caig-cleaners-conditioners/d5/

This product is good for restoring switches, potentiometers and rotary encoders etc.
