    Hello all,

I’m writing with a tricky footage problem our company is trying to solve. We are a small nonprofit that works internationally in refugee camps in Kenya, Thailand, and Haiti. We have branch offices in the UK, Hong Kong, the US, and Nairobi. We shoot a lot of video projects and documentary b-roll-type footage.

We’re trying to figure out a way to catalog and tag the footage so it is instantly accessible. It will all eventually come to our New York office and that will be the main repository, but we will have satellite repositories in each location.

Is CatDV the kind of tool we want to use? We’re trying to avoid fragmentation and track media with maximum flexibility.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

CatDV does what you describe but there are more questions than answers with your worklfow. A good system integrator would likely do wonders pointing you in the right direction.

The good part is CatDV has a deep set of tools to help organize files with and/or with out a central database. Watch some of the videos especially Bryson’s 4 part demo. Contact us for a trial license if you want to take it for a test drive.
