    hi,

trying to create flowing lines, i’ve tried creating a stroke around a mask and then editing that but really long way to do it and it also doesn’t look that organic.
the kind of flowing line i’m after would be simular to one i found on this showreel at

    https://www.pixelshifter.nl

i’m looking to create ones simular to the ones coming from the box,

    any help is appreciated.
    thanks

    Hi there.

Take a look at this video tutorial, maybe you can do it with the lines you want.
    https://forums.creativecow.net/cgi-bin/page_wrapper.cgi?forumid=2&page=https://www.creativecow.net/articles/hansen_jaysen/growing/index.html

If this is not what do you want, go to https://www.trapcode.com/products_particular.html
and take a look at Motionpath Lightpath video. It was created using Particular.

    I hope it helps.

    hey,
already cheched out that tutorial which is great thanks
but wanted to have a flowing moving line not something that just writes on.
thinking of rotoscoping DV footage of wiggling a piece of string around to make it look natural.
just seems a really long soloution.

It would be rather difficult to achieve something like that in AE. That stuff they show uses 3D geometry in combination with realtime dynamics simulation. The closest you can probably get is using similar techniques with displacement effects such as Aharon Rabinowitz does in his custom waveform tutorials.

Check out our Geomancy filters and specifically Hairlines:

    https://digitalanarchy.com/geomancy/geomancy_hair.html

It’s a particle system specifically designed to create flowing lines.

    cheers,
    Jim
