Order of keyer & mask matters (even if black on black)!
Hello Everyone,
I just learned something interesting and thought I’d share it with everyone in case it helps you avoid my problem!
I was working with a clip that needed keying and a mask to cut out the sides:
So, I added a mask, trimmed it to cut the sides out and was not happy to see the outline of the mask (which did translate when outputted):
I thought maybe the feather control on the mask was too large and brought it to 0%, but there was still a faint outline that unfortunately did appear when outputted:
I thought maybe the mask filtre was corrupted, so I re-loaded it a second time, but got the same results of the ghost outline of the filtre’s edges:
Then I had a thought that maybe the order of the filtres would have an effect on the out come (even though it was black background and a blask mask…), so I rearranged the keyer filtre to above the mask filtre: Sure enough this worked and removed the mask filtre’s outline!:
So, note to self: keyer THEN mask filter! Hopefully you can avoid this trap if you weren’t aware of it.
Take care,
Shea A.J. Comfort
