    Hi all,

Fairly new to C4D but we’re using it with an imac 2.7GHz Quad core i5 and 16GB RAM.

As expected, the rendering power of this machine isn’t quite up to where we need it. We have other machines we can use as clients, but with the load this puts on the clients’ processors, this isn’t really an option during working hours.

Can anyone suggest alternative options for bumping up the processing power of our C4D machine? I’ve read a few posts on creating a render farm with mini macs, but that looks a bit pricey.

Would Apple be willing/able to put a faster processor in the imac? How fast could we go?

You’re going to want a Mac Pro, not an iMac.
Or, for more processing power for your money, you might look at PC’s. Windows 7 is actually really good and C4D works with it beautifully. I prefer Macs in general, but Windows 7 is winning me over and you can usually get a faster machine for significantly cheaper.
