  • Option to Litepanels 1×1’s …

I pose a question at the bottom of this posting, but here’s the background first.

Joel Servetz recommended an interesting LCD light, in lieu of of buying a Micro, from Litepanels.

    Z96, by F&V Lighting – https://www.fvlight.com/Products.asp?L1=5&L2=50

It’s sold by coollcd.com for $89 and puts out supposedly more light than the Micro’s.
The info is on it is not as extensive as on the Micro’s, and only gives an output taing of 800lux with no distance figures. However reviewers say it puts out more light than “others”.

*These lights are set up to be joined into multi-light panels*

**** Here’s an interesting comparison to make:
    At $100 per light, how does a 6-bank, Z96 compare to a 1×1 Lightpanel?
Z96 may have fewer net LCD’s… maybe not… and it’s power wiring would be exposed, but it’s much cheaper and you have 6 separate lights that can be used in multiple combinations. For AC powering you’d need to add an ac-dc converter.

    Shot of a 4x Z96:

    Thoughts?

Note on sources of the Z96.

There are a number of seller on eBay who have a price MUCH less than CoolLCD.

Also, there is a model of Z96 that also offer a flash burst.
