  • Option Key shortcuts don’t work..

Posted by Stevie Scarlatos on September 30, 2009 at 12:15 pm

I wanted to practice on my shortcuts in FCP 6 i have Mac Book Pro laptop. Most of the shortcuts i have tried out seem to work fine. However shortcuts that have to do with the option key don’t work at all, i replaced most of them with the command key instead. But anyway some shortcuts don’t work without it. Like the auto select light used at the tracks in the canvas.. Can somebody help please
    thank you..

You could check in system preferences, keyboard, modifier keys, and make sure that the option key is mapped to itself, and not turned off.

Thanks.. I checked it, it was mapped to itself.. Is there another way to check out if my option key is ok??

And you are sure that the key itself is not dead? I had a modifier key die on me once. It took me forever to work out what was wrong.

Try an Option key function in any app other than FCP.

Make sure that “Linked Selection” is enabled – Shift + L.
