Playing with the new FCPX on a 8 core 2.26Ghz Mac Pro with 8GB ram. It is eating up a TON of resources (although video playback is pretty smooth!) But it’s really pretty slow and bringing the rest of the system to a crawl.

I believe I’m using the native H.264 media… probably should transcode – would that help?

Hoping to talk about what other people are running it on and what the performance is like. Please share!

No Such problems here. Working with H.264 files, applied couple of filters, everything works likes a breeze.

“The creative person wants to be a know-it-all. He wants to know about all kinds of things: ancient history, nineteenth-century mathematics, current manufacturing techniques, flower arranging, and hog futures. Because he never knows when these ideas might come together to form a new idea. It may happen six minutes later or six months, or six years down the road. But he has faith that it will happen.” — Carl Ally
