Does anyone have a suggested file size range if you want to put a video project to be viewed online?

I have some training-type videos I’ve created. When I export them to MP4 using the MainConcept AVC/AAC(*.mp4) format from SVP 11, their sizes range from 93.4MB to 208MB. I have Enable progressive download checked.

What I do then is open them in a freebie I downloaded called MPEG Streamclip and then compress.

Is that advisable for videos that you eventually want to put up on the web (not necessarily YouTube)?

end file size depend on if it is HD and length

SVP10 & 11 have internet recommended options under the sony mp4 menu and i would use those. you can further compress by going into the custom options and lowering the bitrate.

I have found that 720p hd footage looks decent at 4mbps and the default is 8mbps

In this day and age of fast broadband/ADSL/cable Internet download speeds, 100 to 200 mb is no longer the big ask it used to be. If you said to me that 200 mb was for a 30 second video I would be concerned as you should be able to fit at least 10 minutes of decent quality mp4 video in that space.
