  • Optical flow retiming loses clip interlacing

So I sent a DVCPRO HD 1080i clip in a DVCPRO HD 1080i timeline from Final Cut to Motion 3 to retime it to 50%. I performed this retiming using optical flow and when I saved and rendered the motion clip in Final Cut – the interlacing was gone. Checking back in motion – I see that the interlacing appears to still be there after the retiming has occurred.

What am I doing wrong here? Or is this a limitation of Motion’s optical flow retiming that I wasn’t aware of? I’m not rendering out the file from Motion 3 – I’m just saving the project and rendering the embedded .motn clip back in FCP.

    Thanks.

Did you try setting rendering of Motion projects to Best in your FCP sequence settings? Normal setting doesn’t seem to get you certain properties from Motion.
