i kind of noticed this before, but didn’t may it much attention. (silly me). but when i watched the rendered movie of my project which is HDCam captured as DVCPro HD along with HDV captured natively, all beautifully cut together on a DVCPro HD timeline (thanks to FCP 6), i noticed my talent get fat, then skinny.

    : )

yes, all my HDV clips (which are 1440) are “fat”, while my HDCam (DVCPro HD) clips look just dandy. of course, if i choose each clip, go to the Motion tab and change the Distort/Aspect Ratio to “13”, life is grand. i should’ve checked this sooner when i saw that these HDV clips were wider than the frame in the Canvas, that is, the left and right sides went beyond the frame. i guess i just figured FCP would “take care of this” upon final render. why would i think that?

any shortcuts to fix these clips?

    thanks again!

    mortimer,
When importing footage to FC you must allways check the “Pixel aspect” and”Annamorphic” in the Brownser window (also the “field-order”). FC only recognice properly the footage that you had capture through the application. And not always. Many times when re-opening a project some footage that the day before was Annamorphic, show-up as 4×3, so I must check the Annamorphic columm manually.

Scale one clip as you want it. Select that clip. Select from menu, Edit – Copy (command-C). Select multiple other clips. From menu, Edit – Paste Attributes (option-V). Check the box for Basic Motion and click OK. Maybe you have used this before. If not, check the manual under Copying and Pasting Specific Clip Attributes.
