    Opening video files from FCP (vers 5) with FCP 7

    Hi,

    I am about to digitize 30 hours worth of mini dv footage via firewire using Final Cut Pro 5 (version5.1.4)

    My question is:

    I will want to move these video files in a few weeks into my new IMAC computer using
    Final Cut Pro 7, and was wondering if this will cause any issues with opening these files again using a different version of software from the one I digitized with?

    I don’t need to worry about a project file, it’s just the video files I need to open.

    you should have no problem. Previous versions of Final Cut Pro open in newer versions.
