  • Opening FCP 5 Projects in FCP 6

    Hello.

I recently upgraded FCP 5 to 6, and have the upgraded 6.0.5, and everything’s fine, except I have one project that I was working on in FCP 5 that I can’t open in FCP 6.

After I select yes to the prompt to update the project file, fcp seems to freeze and i have to force quit. It’s only this one project, all the other ones are fine.

Anyone know why or what I can do? I dont have a copy of FCP 5 or know of anyone with it.

    Thanks
    Pat

Take the media offline…the drive containing it. And then try again. Then IF you get it open, do a SAVE AS a new file name. Then quit. Bring the media drive back online, then open the new project, and try to reconnect the media.

If this doesn’t work…you still have the original project file.

    Hi,
You could try exporting the FCP 5 project as an XML file if you have access to FCP 5 on any other system. It should work.
