open v9 win on v8 mac?
Posted by Emmet Reddy on January 27, 2010 at 11:25 amThis is probably a silly question but, is it possible to somehow open an adobe after fx version 9 windows project so it will open on a mac using adobe after effects 8?
Thanks Emmet?Emmet Reddy replied 15 years, 5 months ago 3 Members · 4 Replies -

January 27, 2010 at 12:53 pmNo, but if you search this forum you’ll find some discussions of how various people have manually converted their projects from a newer AE version to an older one. All approaches I’ve heard of are relatively time-consuming so, personally, I consider it a last resort … especially with large complex projects.
Cross-platform is a separate issue … the main things you’ll have to deal with there are font and third-party plugin differences.

January 27, 2010 at 4:37 pmAs David says, the cross-platform aspect is pretty easy. There are a few things to keep in mind: “Cross-platform considerations”
The ability to open a project in an older version is a different issue.
If you have both versions of After Effects on the same computer, you can use a somewhat laborious method to get most information from an After Effects CS4 project back to an After Effects CS3 project. See the tip at the bottom of this page.
