    Hey all,

My friend has a project he put together in iMovie. It has video and a few audio layers (music, VO, etc).

He’s having issues with the audio and would like me to take a stab at cleaning it up. Is there a way to import an iMovie project from his computer and open it in my Final Cut (with split audio layers)? Or at least get the different audio layers to my computer?

I’ve never used iMovie so not too familiar with how it works.

    Thanks!

You are very limited in what you can bring from iMovie, no effects, no transitions, no titles. Almost no audio from iTunes will transfer. That said, we need to know what version of of iMovie you’re talking about. Recent versions allow export of an XML file that can be imported into FCP and relinked to the media. You should be aware that iMovie uses a great many media formats that are not supported for editing in an FCP sequence.

    All the best,

    Tom

You can open the iMovie Project with FC.
What you will find there, will depends very much of the project.
    Try it.
