I’m at my wit’s end with this!

Everyone knows you can lose the white in a layer by setting the mode to “multiply”. So how is it possible that having done this, I STILL have opaque white areas on the layer. The problem persists in both RGB and CMYK modes. The eyedropper measures zero colour in both modes as well, so I know there is only white in these areas.

I’d appreciate any helpful suggestions on this. Or am I overlooking something bleedin’ obvious?

Is the background transparent? Blend modes won’t work on transparent background, you need to add a layer beneath the multiply layer and fill it with a color.
