Opaque line appears in some Premiere 3 exports

First of all you need to set up everything properly
Your seqeunce is ntsc, your footage is pal and its quicktime and not avi. And i think it is set to 4:3 instead off widescreen.
So make your seqeunce match your footage and then look again.

I’m fairly new to Premiere and appreciate the help.

I’m looking for where I can adjust the sequence settings to match the footage as you recommended and have only been able to adjust Device Control > DH/HDV Device Control > Options to PAL but the line is still there.

Would you have any tips or documentation I can look at to make the sequence match the footage?

Hi everyone,

on the back of Ann’s suggestions I’ve reset the Project but I’m now getting some unexpected results – any help would be huge.

I’m converting a VOB sent by a TV station to MOV so I can import it into Premiere. The “Any Video Converter” conversion program I’m using says the original size is 720×576 and I’m retaining all the settings in the conversion. Looks fine in VLC after I play it too. I’ve then setup the project in Premiere for PAL 720×576 but when I import the MOV, Premiere says the MOV is 768×576 and the opaque line appears. When I play the MOV in VLC or Quicktime no line appears and I’ve also used a different program to encode the VOB but the results are the same.

I then customised the Project for 768×576 but the line still remains. Someone recommended using Sorenson Squeeze to convert but before doing that I’m trying to find out why the converted MOV plays fine in VLC but produces the opaque line when imported into Premiere. And why does Premiere say the frame size is 768×576 when the converter says 720×576.

Just to close the topic, I found the solution.

It was to use the Super video converter to convert all files to the same specs (30 fps, 640×480) then set up the Project in Premiere to those specs.
