opacity gradient
how can i create a layer and use it to adjust the opacity of a picture?

1) Add a layer mask and draw the gradient on it.
or
2) Use the layer below as a clipping mask.

There are 2 ways to create opacity in gradient.
1. You can use Add a mask option from bottom of layer panel.
2. You can use Gradient editor. Downside points are for gradient colors and top side point for opacity.
