  • Only the upper 1/4 of clips shows in Canvas-Help!

Posted by Tulipbee on March 26, 2006 at 1:52 pm

I open my clip and shows and plays the whole clip in the clipboard. When I instert the clip onto the canvas, I see the clip in the canvas 4 times smaller. When I play the canvas, only the upper 1/4 of the clip is displayed. I tried cropping and scaling and still displays a portion of the clip. What am I doing wrong here. I have spent many hours trying to figure out this part and still haven’t started making movies. This problem is holding me back. Can anyone suggest the solution to this problem?

    Thanks

Sounds like your sequence settings are wrong, ie they do not match the digitised media.
eg offline quality media being edited into a DV quality timeline.

In your browser check the compressor settings and the frame size of your source material then create a edit seq with the same settings

Are there any blue thumb lines around the Canvas window?

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

No blue thumb lines. Just thick black area too thick to be called borders. I’ll double check to see if I overlooked it.

Thank you for the suggestion. It encouraged me to look even more deeper into the program. I’m working with Final Cut Express HD and I don’t see any controls for the compressor settings. I see the info and the clip is 352 x 264 and the sequence 1 is 720 X 480. I don’t see any way to change the settings. Perhaps you can in the pro version. I read elsewhere in this forum that the program is a DV program and it sounds like I won’t be able to change the settings. Is that true? Is converting all my clips to DV format the solution?
