only render depth
Hi,
Yesterday I have been rendering a major 3d scene. This obviously took a huge amount of time. Unfortunately, I did not notice the depth map was not checked in the multipass section of the rendersettings. I need to have this in order to create depth in the render in After effects.
I do not have the time to render the entire scene again, so my question is;
Is it possible (and how) to only render the depth to a file?
I use cinema 4d 10.

I don’t have a ton of experience with Multi-pass renders, but I think you would just uncheck everything in Multi-pass and make sure the depth map is checked. It should then only render the depth pass.

I’ve tried it, but since the multipass rendersettings exclude the main settings it still renders the main sequence and renders the depth beside it.

There’s no way but to rerender with the depth pass. You can optimize the scene by eliminating all materials, lights, and anything else that won’t affect the depth pass.

Or maybe just:
Create a new pure white illumination texture
Put everything into a null-node
Put the texture on the null node
Add an environment with fog
render normallyWhoa! Is this possible?
