    Hey,

Just a quick simple question. I haven’t used onlocation much, but decided to use it to tape some casting calls we did recently. Its nice how it allows for direct to disk recording.

I was wondering if recording the media through onlocation, via firewire output from the camcorder, if it bypasses the camera compression (Much like Aja KiPro and blackmagic products will do
for DSLR shoots) so we can get a much better color space than the cheap camera would offer?

Does anyone know if this is the case? Since its not recording from an HDMI source, im assuming its not. But who knows?

    Thanks

    Hi Tyle,

Once the video is coming in through Firewire, it already has the DV or HDV compression applied at 25Mbps.
